A Special Man (on his birthday)

How many days did I miss

seeing you?

You being there.

Ill for so many weeks.

Thin and frail;

not the same dad.

Unknown to us, cancer

growing strong.

Your brain its home.

Fifty-four years have passed.

What you’ve missed,

not done, not seen.

Alive still in my mind,

Never aged.

A special man.
