About Lynne

Writing has always been one of my greatest pleasures. To be able to create a story from my imagination that gives enjoyment to a reader is a truly heart-warming experience. Receiving comments such as ‘I didn’t want it to end’ or ‘I couldn’t put it down’ have spurred me to continue.

I write novels and poetry, but am currently concentrating on short stories. I always knew I would write a novel. In fact I have written two, however success has come in the past two years since I began penning short stories as exercises to improve my writing. Since gaining recognition through being shortlisted in national writing competitions, I have tended to make them my main focus. In 2021, my story The Road to Lille was named winner of the u3a National Short Story Competition from over 500 entries. This year I was thrilled to be asked to be a member of the judging panel.

Additionally, during the past few months, I’ve won contracts as a regular short story contributor for two popular women’s magazines.

My career in criminal justice training involved factual reports, research papers and training materials, where there was no place for embellishment. I am now relishing the freedom to go wherever I desire with my creative power. People tend to comment that I should be writing crime novels; maybe in the future, but for the time being I have had my fill of murder and mayhem!
