Festival of Mahon, Menorca

Fabulous afternoon yesterday at the festival. A typical Spanish ‘Festa’ with all the noise, crowds and spectacle we expect. Firstly terrifying firecrackers, the parade of ‘The Giants’, a parade of approximately 50 immaculate horsemen. It is tradition and ‘good luck’ for people to touch the stomach of the horses when the riders make them rear up. Lots of drinking and dancing far into the night. We were wimps……back at the hotel in time for a swim before dinner!

See ‘Poetry’ page for a poem inspired by the event.
